Hey Dudes, Just listened to The Highwayman! Great Jam! Nice bass sound, good lead guitar work! If I may be a little critical, and only to help make the best song possible. I would play with the vocal track and melody. Vocals sound a little clean for the gritty band sound on this particular song. Maybe just mess around with a little grungier vocal sound,(ala Bonn Scott or something) or put some wicked effects on the vocal track. I don't know if you are doing the recording yourself or in a studio with mixing/producing people, but vocals sound a little dry for the mix. Maybe try the song in a different key signature to see if it works better for the vocals. Also, double and triple vocal tracks, Watch for pitchiness!! Just talk to a producer who works at a recording studio and let them have a listen, they'll probably tell you the same thing!!
Of course your welcome to tell me to piss off and I would not be offended, cause I've been in the music business for over 20 years and have had plenty of people tell me to piss off, but I really think you guys have a shot at being the real deal and I'm sure you ROCK live and I'll be looking for you on my next trip to Old Blighty!! Cool River is a cool groove, like the Floydian influence as I'm a huge Pink Floyd/Roger Waters fan! I think you guys should look for someone to help produce the songs which isn't always easy or free, but it will make a noticeable difference if you can find someone. Love when Cool River comes in with the whole band! As soon as the vocals get a little grit to them, I'm like HELL YEAH!! You guys have excellent tunes and a great Rock look! Keep it up!! Rob/MAR
P.S. Please feel free to critique my stuff if you get a spare moment! Cheers!!!!!!!!!!
