Sylva tha poet started writing poetry at a young age as a way of channelling raw feelings and emotions, finding it to be a positive release, coming from a very difficult and painful background he would not let these scars burden his future existence, so he used his creative abilities to express the troubles he had experience for the what he hoped would be good for others, projecting a positive message about always persevering and being strong of soul and heart, Sylva once said " To be truly alive you must be self aware and accept your consciousness, to take the hyperthetical pen and write your own life as in that of a truly moving novel is the first step to happiness and enlightenment, your are your own author, but with all books they end as with any beautiful story, but the end is only the last chapter before the sequel". Never really considering combining the words with music until a friend asked him along to one of his recording sessions, this friend was MCV a young lightning tongued rapper from Leamington spa. After their first collaboration it became a more regular occurrence, a yr passed and a sudden beneficial alliance opportunity arose in the form of a musician and producer named Visual Audio Replicant a veteran Electronica maestro and engineer. The duo of MCV and Sylva quickly formed a bond with VAR initially collaborating on tracks originally for a club scene, but the influences of Sylva and MCV changed VAR's perception of music and how it could be experimented with. They started writing music with Hip-hop roots yet with a twist unheard before; integrating Electronica, Rap, Rock, live instruments and varying vocal styles. That Threesome has now been working together over four yrs progressively enhancing their studio facility and developing their production skills. All proffering different unique elements to the varied mix of sounds. Within the last yr the group has gone from strength to strength with new members joining the collective adding their own inputs and experiences, those members are Fayte mc a lyricist with sharp potent lines yet intelligently delivered, Nikki Marie is a 18yr old with Jamaican heritage, she started singing at 8 and has developed her voice into a deep soulful harmonised sound offering a slightly softer RNB feel to the songs she performs on. Ridah is a young hungry emcee with a tongue twisting style building his abilities day by day. Lord Mitch is the guest metal vocalist bringing growling chords to the ensemble. Sylva tha poet one of the original three created the name Altered Perceptions feeling it explained in short what the group are about and how their music is always varied with strangely unique conceptions. The combined experiences and perceptions of the members ensure a definate magnetic pull for listeners of all ages and tastes. Always persevering to entertain people with their music at live performances or through pre-recorded songs promoting themselves independently through various channels whether it be internet based or simply a cd. They want the world to hear them!!!
